Blended Learning

Program Objective
Participation in the Blended Learning Program is intended to provide students with opportunities to navigate coursework with a greater degree of independence than experienced in traditional classes. As such, students should expect to develop self-management skills that can be applied in college and/or career settings.

Privileges for Students in Good Standing

• Independently manage time during blended learning class period when in-person attendance is not required by teacher;
• Use of designated blended learning spaces in the building;
• Check out of the building during blended learning period.

Student Expectations to Remain in Good Standing

• Blended Learning Agreement Form, signed by parent and submitted to school at the start of each semester; 
• Maintain at least a grade of ‘C’ or higher in blended learning course;
• Attend all in-person class meetings as instructed by teacher, any absences need to be coded as ‘excused’ by the attendance office;
• Carry student ID indicating and present to staff upon request;
• When not attending blended class in person, remain in the following locations: Blended Learning Lab, Commons, or classroom with permission (see below); gyms, hallways, locker rooms, etc. are off-limits; 
• Secure prior permission and a pass if meeting with another teacher during blended period for support;  teacher must have a plan period;
• When leaving the building during a blended period, present ID and sign out in the Main Office, return at the beginning of the next passing period and sign back in through the Main Office;
• Use own transportation only when leaving campus, no additional students may be transported.

Intervention in the Case of Student Not in Good Standing

• WHS Administration will review violations on a case-by-case basis. Depending on the severity of the infraction, students may have their blended learning privileges revoked, resulting in a daily in-person attendance requirement during the blended learning period. Students may also be removed from the blended learning course and be assigned to a traditional class.
