Woodstock High School

WHS Taking All State by Storm

In October WHS sent 16 students to audition for the district 7 Illinois Music Education Association Honors Ensembles. Over 55 schools from the North/Northwest suburbs send their top students to audition for approximately 75 spots in Band and Orchestra.

Out of the 16 students WHS sent, 7 were honored with placements in band and orchestra! This marks one of the highest totals here at WHS from our band program.

Beyond that achievement by our students, we had two outstanding students go above and beyond the District 7 level. Kelly Read and Connor Zankle placed so highly in the District 7 Honors Ensembles that they received nominations for competing at All State with the top 120 students in band/orchestra in our state!

In January, Kelly and Connor accompanied Mr. Stiles down to Peoria, IL to audition for placement in one of four ensembles. Kelly Read auditioned into the All State Honors Band as one of the top 25 Clarinet players in all of state! Connor Zankle auditioned into the All State Orchestra as one of the top 8 Bass Trombonists in all of the state.

Woodstock has had a history of sending one student every 4-5 years to all state. So to have 2 is a new record in our WHS Band's history! We are so proud of the bands here at WHS and especially these two students who have gone above and beyond to put WHS Band on the map. Congrats to Connor and Kelly! Their futures will have music heavily involved as they go on to College contending for performance-based music scholarships.
